The Frankfurt Adventure

Today my family and I went to the Pickwick Society in downtown Frankfurt. This place was absolutely adorable!! The restaurant is actually an old house and the decor was very old-fashioned. When you first walked in there was a whole slew of tea products for sale and then on either side were rooms to eat.

I ordered the Afternoon Darjeeling tea. Basically because it was afternoon and seemed like the right thing to do, lol.

For my meal I ordered Jo's Plate. It had a selection of the tea sandwiches along with a cherry almond scone and dessert.

The sandwiches were cucumber, turkey with provolone and raspberry honey mustard, tuscan olive with bell pepper, and chicken salad. The turkey sandwich was by far my favorite and the ingredients seemed pretty straightforward so I will post it here.

Turkey with Provolone and Raspberry Honey Mustard

Marble Rye Brad
Provolone Cheese
Sliced Turkey Breast
Raspberry Honey Mustard Pretzel Dip

Spread the pretzel dip on each slice of bread and then layer on the turkey and provolone.

I will definitely be recreating this sandwich. The ingredients are so simple and the taste was DELICIOUS. You can find the dip at Robert Rothschild Farm's website. It is worth the money and really tasty with pretzels (hence the name).

Anyway, after lunch we walked around Frankfurt. It is a really cute town and for any Gilmore Girls fans reading this, it reminds me SO much of Stars Hollow. Which obviously means that I want to live there :-D While walking I found a store that sold all types of old-fashioned candy. I got a bit excited. And picture happy.

I love this, haha

Once my family dragged me away from this store they appeased me with some ice cream. I got butter pecan and had it with some butter pecan coffee. Clearly I was feeling butter pecan today, lol.

Le sigh. The Frankfurt adventure was definitely worth every dollar that I threw at its old-fashioned, antique feet. I almost felt like I was in a different time and I got ice cream and coffee to boot. If every mini-vacation were like that I would never come home ;-)
