Overnight Oats

Good morning!! I hope everyone has had a nice start to their day! I started mine with a pretty fantastic bowl of overnight oats. This is my second time having them and I am pretty smitten. When I first made them I didn't know what to expect. I thought that it might be mushy (which I wouldn't like) but the texture ended up being very pleasant. It reminds me a lot of Indian rice pudding.

This morning I had 1/4 cup of oats soaked in vanilla soy milk with a dollop of my homemade yogurt and peanut butter. I sprinkled walnuts and almonds on top for some crunch.

Eats complete, there is a little topic I'd like to discuss with you all. Lately I have had absolutely no drive to work-out. It's weird because I generally enjoy working out and I've had a lot of time to do it. The truth is, I simply have not wanted to do anything. I know that I should but when the time comes I always make excuses.

I am hoping that my drive will return when I go to school. I find that when I am at school with a regular schedule I am better with my workouts. Also my gym is right in my building so there really is no excuse for not going.

For those of you in school, do you find that your workouts are more regular during the school year or do you take advantage of all the free time in summer?

  1. Love your blog- very similar to my own :)
I'm the same as you... during the summer when I have nothing to do, I do nothing. During school when I'm stressed out and overscheduled, I somehow always find time for the gym!

  3. I am not in school, but I find it very helpful to get up and get it done. That way nothing can distract me later in the day. Also, it is a scheduled time to do it. I hope you find your drive again!

  4. When I was in school, I was very good about working out during the school year, and all summer I would be so lazy.

I agree with other comments that say to get it done with in the morning. If you are bored with your routine, try something new or go get some new workout clothes. That works for me!

  5. I think that workouts are easiest when the larger framework of you life has more routine..so I'd say if you are still in school, then then school year. I'm a workin' woman ;) so my schedule is pretty much the same year round.

That being said, we all get in workout slumps now and then!

  6. Oh how I love overnight oats! And I seem to work out MUCH more in the summer. At school, I am usually a lot busier and don't have as much time to work out... I'm hoping to keep a fairly regular schedule though! Good luck to you with finding your drive! It's there :)
